It's the year of the vaccine/s! But, it's also the year of a 3rd National Lockdown.
This is a really strange time; we wanted to close the door on 2020 so much and look towards the optimistic future that 2021 would bring and yet, here we are again, in a very dire situation with rising cases, lots of restrictions and therefore, lots of staying home, closed business', closed pubs and restaurants, a closed arts industry and a whole lot of "What do I do with all my spare time?"
Well, we learnt a few lessons from the first lockdown and the second lockdown and I'm sure we will all learn a lot from this lockdown. We learnt different ways of coping with isolation, boredom, frustration, spare time, loneliness; so we need to make sure we take everything we learnt and apply it to this situation now.
Here's a little list of things we at THE VOCAL LISTS learnt over the past year:
KEEP PURSUING YOUR GOALS!
This one is really important. We were so proud to round off 2020 with an amazing group of clients, still deeply passionate and motivated to achieve success in what they were trying to achieve. just because the world may have stopped for a while, doesn't mean you have to as well. Now is the PERFECT time to focus on things that you may not have time to focus on when normal life returns.
2. BE REALISTIC WITH YOUR GOALS!
This is always essential when it comes to setting yourself targets. Don't shoot too high and don't shoot too low; aim for somewhere in the middle, something realistic and achievable within the time frame you have. You're only setting yourself up for failure if you aim beyond achievability. Aim for something that can be attained, then you can look towards raising your sights a bit more!
3. TAKE YOUR TIME!
Don't feel like you have to be achieving something new every 5 minutes. It's essential to be kind to yourself and allow the process to take place. Take the stress and panic out of your life, there's already enough of that in the air at the moment. Enjoy learning something new at a steady and manageable pace; the rewards will come and they will be deeply satisfying when they do.
4. COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS!
In a time where we have to socially distance, it has never been more important to maintain some form of contact with those we love and care about. Pick up the phone, arrange a Zoom call or a FaceTime, go for a socially distanced walk (adhering to all the current rules), join an online club (play reading, book clubs, music clubs etc...). Share your problems with others and listen to others problems in return.
5. DO THINGS YOU REALLY ENJOY!
Now is the time to break away from old, monotonous habits of the past. Do something you've always wanted to do, but never had the time to do, make sure you don't torture yourself to achieve something, otherwise there's no point in achieving it. Take time for yourself and don't be afraid of being a little bit selfish; we need to give ourselves some love right now.
WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS!
We are ready to work with you to achieve your speech, singing and/ or acting goals; so please get in touch and let's make this year a strong one!!
